Biography
R. Scott Broshears first came to George Mason in 2015 as an adjunct instructor with the Department of Accounting. He began teaching full time in 2016 and served as the director of the MS in Accounting (MSA) Program from August 2017 to July 2020. In 2020 he and his wife moved to Santiago, Chile, with her job transfer to pursue an opportunity to work, live, and learn in another country, continent, and culture. Scott has a Master of Accounting degree from the University of Arizona, acquired his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification in 1992 from the State of Arizona, and later a Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Scott retired from the federal government in 2013 after nearly 30 years of service, with his last 21 years as a special agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). After retiring from the FBI, Scott worked for two years with Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor before coming to George Mason.
